About
Emerged in early-1990s Frankfurt out of the German techno and acid scenes, built on rolling arpeggios, long breakdowns and a euphoric climax at 130–140 BPM. Dance 2 Trance, Sven Väth, Jam & Spoon and Paul van Dyk defined the early sound; Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Above & Beyond turned it into a global festival format from the late 1990s.
