About

Formed in South London around 2002 out of UK garage's darker fringe, built on half-time drums at 140 BPM and enormous sub-bass — centred on Big Apple Records in Croydon and the DMZ club night, with Hatcha, Skream, Benga, Mala and Coki. Its US festival strain arrived around 2010 via Rusko, Skrillex and Excision, trading dub weight for mid-range aggression.
